Yep, a three day weekend is coming up. Crys* has been at a retreat/work training all week and gets home on Friday afternoon. I've been feeding kitties and keeping myself busy without actually getting much of anything done. Well.... I am getting something done, I'm just not talking about that for a while, I want that to be a surprise in a couple/three months.
Sunday it rained its' butt off around here, and we've had rain off and on this week. The valley floor folks keep saying that we're stealing all their moisture. Odd, the creek isn't running yet this year.... we're guessing it's because of the cold temperatures keeping the run off down. There's snow up there we can SEE it! I swear!
SO, looks like we'll be relaxing and playing and working and maybe getting out and around some this three day weekend.
Holler before you head up, you'll want to make sure we're home.
The dark of night does not come after the golden glow of the day's sun but before it.
We are Living Out Loud... and loving our lives together.

First Bloom of the Spring
Came home at lunch today to start some dishes, check on the kitties, drop off some "stuff" and generally keep up with things. As I often do I took a short walk to see how the creek and hill were looking, and there it was!!! The first cactus bloom of spring. That means that probably this weekend we'll take the hike up to the back of our place and take some pics of the fields of them blooming on terraces on the rock.
I love this! What a waste it would have been if the world had ended on Saturday :D

We're working on some pots for the house. Crys* was applying the very successful layers to make some crystaline glazes for some pots for a show she has coming up. The firing came out really well, and I decided to start trying to make some stuff I've never made before, because that's always fun. :D
Pics of the new invented stuff when I get some made that don't blow up.

Our new bonfire pit!
Thanks, as usual, to Crys* for taking the pic that tells the story. :D
It took a couple days of digging and gathering big rocks and stacking and backfilling and landscaping to get the pit built but we wanted to have it ready for Saturday night so we kept on it. Christie and Autum came out and helped us break it in. We like it, the thing is 6 feet across and nearly 3 feet deep so it makes the wind a bit less pesky. :D We've stacked 7 big old sitting rocks around it and one special small one for Autum to have as her very own. (she'd share if you asked).
SO, now all it needs is lots of drummer people, some folks that like to strum a guitar and a moonlight evening of magic.
Holler at us, we'll stack the wood and chill the beer or wine and warm up a rock for ya!

Flashlight view
driving home
This pic is on 285 going around Salida. We were playing and laughing and listening to music and this shot if Crystal's phone cam with my flash from under my face. Looks all "camping halloween stories". I like it. That was a fabulous weekend.
Less than 4 months to the wedding. ....
We started the fire pit yesterday. Should be a good time, but next time I build one I'm gonna use SMALLER DAMNED ROCKS!!!!

Trace Bundy
Amazing guitar fella.
One of the best parts of the evening? He plays both ends of the guitar independently and during "Dueling Ninjas" had a thumb puppet on his left hand that danced up and down and all around over the neck of the guitar. Then there were lots of other good parts.... the medley that went from the 50's to the present... oldies from the 1680's....... looping sounds that go together to make a symphony..... it was fab.
Next time he plays near you....
GO
Dinner at Beau Jo's Pizza
Drove up today for my union meeting and Crys* came along with. It was a nice trip up to Denver and the new/old car ran really well. Crys* got a nice massage and sushi and I got a meeting then we went to Beau Jo's Pizza for dinner and got calzones along with a very tasty appetizer of artichoke hearts and spinach on a crust along with veggies and garlic bread for dipping. I haven't been there in 20 years, it's still good.
Tonight was the Trace Bundy concert, he was FAB. It was at the Soiled Dove Underground in Glendale. Now it's back to the room for internet, and sleep and tomorrow there will be shopping at what our dear friend likes to call Bed Bath and Your Mom. And in the afternoon we'll go see 9 to 5 the musical. It was a groupon deal, Crys* is great at finding those.
Home Sunday. That'll feel good too.
